My top 5 styles II

Hello my friends!

First of all, merry christmas and happy new year!! I’ve been all christmas time in my village and I had no internet, so that’s why I’m writting this so late.

As you should know, I’ve made a post about my favourite 5 styles from female singers. Now, I want to made another post about my favourite styles but instead of female, male singers. But with one difference: intead of 5, there will be a top 6.

There are a lot of male singers I like and admire, but some of them have also a special style that makes them special.

Number 6: Synister Gates

syngatessynistergates

Synister Gates is the guitarist of the famous band Avenged Sevenfold. He has a very particular look. I like so much this little details that make a style unique, such as the hat or the blazer. And of course, look at his guitar. Is fantastic, isn’t it?

Here you have an Avenged Sevenfold song where you can see, not only Synister’s look, but also his colleagues’.

Number 5: Oliver Sykes

oliver-sykesoliversykes

Singer of the band Bring Me The Horizon, Oliver Sykes has a quite curious look. I like his checkered shirts, his T-Shirts and his tatoos as well.

You may think that he’s quite similar to the previous singer, but it isn’t at all. You only have to look at the details.

A lot of people know this song. I like so much this videoclip, I don’t know why.

Number 4: Mika

mikamika2

It might seem strange for you but I like Mika. No. I love Mika. He’s the only pop singer that I like but this is because he make me feel happy and optimistic. I like his music since I was about 10 years old, when he released his first album Life In Cartoon Motion.

He’s so smart and colourful that I can only say: he’s happiness personified. I really love him and I love his style so so much!

This song is from the album No place in heaven.

Number 3: Miyavi

miyavimiyavi2009

Miyavi is a japanese rock/metal singer and guitarist. He has one of the most wonderful and original look that I have ever seen. Japanese prints are mixed with urban garments to create this unique style. I would like you to research about this artist and his garments.

And he’s a magnificent guitar player. Check this out.

Number 2: Andy Biersack

andybandybiersack

I know that I’m a bit awkward but what’s my top 6 without Andy Biersack? There is another post where I talk about Andy’s style. Check it out if you want to know more about him. Being brief, his look is a mixture between glam and hardcore. I love him so much, as well as his band Black Veil Brides.

Here it is one of his songs as a solo singer.

Number 1: Matt Bellamy

mattbellamymatt-bellamy

Finally my number one. It cannot be other. Matt Bellamy is the singer, guitarist and pianist of the alternative rock band Muse. And of course, Muse is my favourite band in the whole world. He’s not a handsome guy, as you can see, but his style is fantastic. He’s also a nice and funny man. I really really love his suits.

Please, watch this video and you will discover the world of Muse and Matt’s looks. This videoclip is my favourite because it’s like me. Yes, if I were a videoclip, it will be this one.

Thank you my blueberries. See you soon.

My top 5 styles

Hello again blueberries,

Today I’m going to make a top 5 styles that I personally like about singers. Obviously this is subjective, as beauty is subjective too (some people haven’t already understood that fact).

You should know that I’m a bit freak (well…maybe more than a bit) and most people don’t agree with me, but I don’t care. So let’s begin.

I will focus exclusively on female singers, which most of them had (and still have) an influence on me.

Number 5: Brittney Hayes

brittney2.jpg

brittneyhayes

Singer of Unleash the Archers, Brittney has a very simple style based on black basic garments. But that simplicity makes her cool and beautiful. This is not my favourite style but I consider it strong and powerful.

Here you can see an example.

Number 4: Dianne Van Giersbergen

Dianne-van-Giersbergen.jpg

dianne

Dianne is the singer of the symphonic metal band Xandria. Her dark goth style, along with her magnificent voice, make Dianne a spectacular woman. Honestly, I LOVE her voice!

I invite you to hear some of her works with Xandria.

Number 3: Hayley Williams

hayleywhayleywilliams

She’s the vocalist of Paramore. I really like her style because it’s the example of positivity and optimism. She’s happiness, and so am I. That’s why I like her.

Here I let you a video where you can see, as I consider, one of her best outfits.

Number 2: Avril Lavigne

avril-lavigneavrillavigne

Avril Lavigne is probably the artist who influenced me the most, stylistically speaking. I’ve been listening to her music since I was 10 and I have always loved her style. I didn’t realize this fact until now. I always wanted to dress like her, and I think my style is quite similar sometimes.

Let’s see one of her videoclips.

Number 1: Alissa White-Gluz

AlissaW_G.jpg

alissa_white_gluz_2.jpg

Alissa’s style is clearly my favourite. And for me, she’s the example of beauty. This might seam strage, but it’s true. She’s one of my muses.

Alissa was the previous singer of The Agonist and now she’s the current vocalist of the death metal band Arch Enemy. I let you here some of their videos, but if you don’t like metal, this could be a little bit hard for you.

I hope you liked this post. See you soon!

Emo

Hi blueberries,

Today I’m going to talk about something we’re familiar with, but actually we don’t know very well: emo style.

Emo is a musical genre which derives from hardcore punk and  was born in the middle 80s. The word emo comes from emotive hardcore or emo-core and makes reference to bands whose lyrics talk about more introspective and personal topics than hardcore punk.

Nowadays, the word emo is used, apart from this music style, to make reference an urban tribe where people always wear dark clothes and they have feelings of suffering. Though this is a wrong concept, which has ended up associated with depressive people. But that is not the emo idea.

I was born in 1997 and when I was a young teenager I used to listen to some kind of emo music and I really like the style. I began to wear black clothes and at that age (I was about 12 or 13) my passion for black started! I really love this colour and I like this kind of emo/goth/alternative fashion style so much.

Right now, I’m taking a look back to these years and I’m discovering new music, new clothes and an evolution inside me is starting. I am not a total emo girl, of course. I consider myself an unlabeled person because I’m a mixture of different styles, which are a very important part of me.

Finally I want to show you some emo bands with very wonderful lyrics! I hope you’d like them!

The first of them is Tokio Hotel. I was a total fangirl of this group some years ago and I still love them (actually, I have two CDs and a DVD). This is their most famous song.

Another famous emo band is the well-known My Chemical Romance, which split up 3 years ago (a big pity). I love their music a lot!

Of course I cannot avoid talking about Black Veil Brides and their fantastic music!

But there are not only men in emo music. Of course, women are also there. One example is Paramore. This song is from the soundtrack of Twilight.

Another example is Fit For Rivals. This is not a very famous band but I like some of their songs.

And that’s all by now. Thank you!

Analyzing fashion in a videoclip

Hello friends,

I would like to ask you a question: have you ever analyze the clothes people are wearing in a videoclip? Of course if you like some kind of music and you see a video, you take notice of how your idols are dressed. Let’s do it together. I want you to pay attention not only to their garments, but to the influences of other musicians on their style.

We’re going to analyze a famous metalcore band: Black Veil Brides. But I will focus my attention on the well-known vocalist Andy Biersack.

Here is the videoclip.

The first thing that catchs our attention is the makeup. Andy Biersack’s makeup is pretty famous. His dark eyeshadow contrasts with his blue eyes, and the lines on his face remark his cheekbones. He’s also wearing red lipstick that contrasts with his pale face.

Then, let’s see his clothes. He’s wearing a T-shirt, a leather jacket and jeans, everything in black; a bullet belt, a little black scarf, black gloves and his always present prayer  beads.

Is it OK for his videoclip? Of course it is. They’re a metalcore band and black is one of their identity symbols, not only for Black Veil Brides, but for the metal community in general.

His hair? His black emo hair reaffirms his style. For me, everything is on the same wavelength.

But what about his influences? Of course if we see Andy with his makeup we remmember a very important and famous band: KISS.

Andy’s makeup is not so excessive as KISS’s but it’s a bit similar.

There’s another big influence: Mötley Crue. Glam style influenced Andy Biersack a lot, as we can see.

But the most important issue that made an influence on him is Emo style.

That’s all. I hope you’d enjoy this post and this music. Bye!

Photoshoot – What is art?

Today I’m going to share with you some photos I have just taken, as well as a short comment.

img_6406editado

«Art is an imitation of nature», said Plato. And he was not so wrong. For me, art is an interpretation of nature, rather. And not only nature, but also thoughts or feelings.

img_6418editada

«Art is harmony», said Seurat. The same harmony as that one between friends or family. That kind of harmony we use to call love. So art is love as well.

IMG_6422editada.jpg

«Art is a lie that makes us realize truth», said Picasso. A beautiful lie that is too similar to reality.

«All art is autobiographical» – Federico Fellini.

We must keep this in mind when we talk about fashion, because fashion is a kind of art. The art of dressing people. The art of creating something from nothing. It’s one of the most common types of art in our daily lives. And the most important, fashion is not only clothes, remember.

Special thanks to María and María (they are namesake), my beautiful models.

Analyzing fashion commercials

Hello Blueberries,

Today I’m going to analyze some fashion advertisements. Almost everybody knows this kind of commercials. We can see them on TV or in banners. They are mostly about fragrances or clothes. Sometimes we admire the clothes, bodies or even the lifestyle they show, but what are they really selling?

The first one is from Dolce & Gabbana.

The first thing we can see is the sea. A lot of commercials are related to the sea or water so as to make people create an imaginary relationship between the fragrance and freshness. The second thing we focus on is the couple. A supposed «perfect» man and «perfect» woman getting out of the water. They are wet and they start to kiss each other.

This commercial seems to be selling sex. It has no content at all. It is okay to make reference to erotism in a commercial but please, we need more than this, at least, a bit of difficulty on achieving that aim.

Next is Carolina Herrera’s.

Here people are attending a party on a night club but only a few can get in. This commercial is selling exclusivity. And you can say «Oh, that’s nice» but it is not. It gives the impression that some people are superior. It’s true, maybe they can go to the party but they are not better than you and this advert is saying «if you put on this fragrance you can be as important as them and the other people are inferior». This kind of exclusivity consists of making you feel better by making the other people feel worse.

Now, two from Paco Rabanne (for man and woman).

The first one (male fragrance) is trying to represent what men are supposed to want their lives to be like: money and women, just that. They are selling wealth. If you are rich, you are the happiest person in the world and you can achieve it all. Of course you are a sex symbol and you can have the lovers you want.

The second one (female fragrance) is the same topic but with different aims. Women are supposed to want money, in order to buy on their whims; fame, because they like to be admired; and a fiancé! Because the only aim in women’s lives is to get married, of course.

I don’t like any of these two commercials but especially the one starred by a woman is too sexist. And personally I can’t understand why we need to make fragrances for men and for women and not unisex. Smell is not related to genders as far as I know.

Next is Cacharel’s

This is one of my favourite fashion commercials. I really love this one. Why? Because in contradiction to Dolce & Gabbana’s, here the erotism is a more complex issue which deals with sensuality and delicacy since it’s selling love. Yes, the fragrance is called Amor Amor and they are selling love. But love in a pure way that we suppose it will end up becoming passion. I like it so much.

We continue with H&M advertisement 2016

I also like this commercial too because it shows different types of women and not only the supposed «perfect» one which brands are promoting. We can see different sizes (but not enough in my opinion) and different behaviors that people think are not «the right ones for a lady». Good one.

Finally, Kenzo’s advert.

Even though I don’t like this music, I really love this commercial because it reflects the liberation from the standarts and some kind of freedom. It’s fun of course and I think this is the new generation of fashion commercials.

And that’s all! Thank you!
